Model number printed on the card: AV-302.
FCC-ID: JZ5SC-6000.
Manufacturer: Gallant Group.
Also known as:
Audio Plus True Sixteen by Zoltrix (See also Zoltrix US Home Page or Zoltrix international Home Page).
Audio Excel DSP 16 by Audio Excel.
This card is said to be seen mostly in Canada.
A similar card has also been built into some 486 notebooks.
Compatibility : Sound Blaster Pro, Microsoft Windows Sound System.
Built-in 4W amplifier.
Win 3.1x and DOS drivers used to be found in a file named sc6000.zip (819Kb), available from http://www.gallantcom.com/audiodriver-old.html, but I think this site has disappeared.
Here is a copy of the disks that came with my Zoltrix Audio Plus True Sixteen card.
Note: LHZ files are LHA archives. See LHA/LHZ for MS-DOS.
Disk 1: Gallant drivers, configuration and diagnostic software: testsc.exe tests the hardware configuration.
Disk 2: Various Win 3.1x software from Voyetra Technologies.
For Win95, the DOS driver (sound.sys), can be installed from the config.sys file. It emulates a SoundBlasterPro card that can then be recognized by Win95’s automatic hardware detection.
Warning! Win95 automatic detection hangs if the sound.sys DOS driver is not present.
I don’t know of any native Win95 driver.
There are drivers (patches) for Linux, see for instance “Linux Hardware Compatibility HOWTO: Sound cards”.
The sound.sys driver is loaded from config.sys with a line like this:
DEVICE:C:\SOUND\SOUND.SYS /I:i /D:d /MIRQ:i
Where:
/I:i specifies the IRQ to be used, and i can be 7, 9, 10, 11 or 5. (see “Setting IRQ/DMA” below)
/D:d specifies the DMA channel, and d can be 0, 1 or 3. (see “Setting IRQ/DMA” below)
/MIRQ:i specifies the MPU-401 IRQ to be used, and can be 5, 7, 9, 10 or 0 – disable.
Use the gsetup.exe command. It is found in the gal6n.lzh archive (Disk 1).
Switch 1 is the switch bar in front of the card (opposite to connectors).
